Has anyone's LO had this? We have a pair of sandals from $tride Rite. Evan had a rash on his foot and heel a couple of weeks ago that seemed to line up with the straps. We have a pair of sneaker/sandals from there too (they have a closed toe and a strap - basically sneakers without the need for socks) so we stopped using both of them and used sneakers and I went out and bought him a pair of crocs, which were loose enough to not really touch the red areas that much.
Well I let him wear the sandals to the park yesterday and the rash is back - I sort of think it happens when the sandals are wet (he was playing in a puddle at the park)...but it's weird because he has had these sandals for a couple of months and only now is getting a rash from them.
It's not like they are from Payless or anything - I'm so mad!

Yeah - I did know that but the quality is way different, imo. It's like the difference between Old Navy and Banana Republic.
I just pick up SR shoes when they have big sales at the outlet. Evan has wide/chubby feet and most velcro straps won't fit over his feet. So that's my #1 reason for going there, they always have a nice selection of Wides. Any other time we just do Target.
Evan has those sneaker/sandal type shoes from there (like these?) and he's never gotten a rash, but he jumped into his kiddie pool w/ them on a few weeks ago... ever since then anytime he wears them his feet STINK! It's gross... I'm glad fall is on the way so he won't have to wear them anymore! ha!
And, I have to buy all Evan's shoes at Stride Rite because his little feet are so chubby. No where else sells a good selection of wides. And even though Payless and Stride Rite are owned by the same company, SR definitely are better/higher quality. I bought Evan a pair of similar sandals from Payless (since I found a wide) and they were falling apart after a month. The ones from Stride Rite he's had since May, and they still look new and he wears them nearly everyday. (even though they stink!)
oh, and I meant to respond to your original question about the rash, duh!
It might be because they were wet. I know I break out on my hand if I wear my rings while I clean or do dishes... I have to either take it off, or dry underneath it really well. If the moisture gets trapped I get a rash.
Yep those are sort of like the sneakers Evan has - I don't think he has gotten them wet but I will be sure to keep them that way now!! Those have been fine on him so far...so that's good. He is a puddle-a-holic right now so I think he'll be wearing the crocs a lot more just in case!
Glad to see I'm not the only one with a fat footed kiddo - are your Evan's hands bigger too? Evan's are.
And yeah - I bought a payless pair for Evan and they lasted one afternoon. Little boys need GOOD shoes...so I don't mind paying for them if they last him a while. But, obv these sandals I have are going in the garbage and it makes me angry. These are the ones that are causing the issue - if anyone else has them:
I totally missed this originally...thanks. This is probably what is going on. I've never noticed it happening with anything else with him - but I guess nothing has been as tight as those sandals.
