What do you think - gas or reflux??

One of my DDs is clearly uncomfortable or in pain.  She screams and cries and pulls her little knees up to her body.  I thought it was gas so we've been giving her drops for the last 12 hours or so, just before each feeding.  But it's not helping.  Could it be reflux?  She spits up a little bit but not after every feeding and not a lot of spit up.  If it is just gas, does it take a while for the gas drops to kick in?  It says on the box (we're using Little Tummies) that it should start working in minutes.  I'm just wondering if I should call the nurse at her ped's office since it's Friday, in case it is reflux.  Maybe they can call in a prescription or something for her.  This has been going on all week, maybe even last week.  My days are all kind of running together so I can't really remember when this started.  I'm EBFing, if that makes a difference.  What do you think??  TIA!

  • That behavior is actually pretty normal because they don't know yet which muscles to use for pooping and farting. I personally have never seen the drops work all that quickly, more like a cumulative effect after time. I did notice though that your LOs are 3 weeks so part of this fussiness could be due to the 3 week growth spurt. Also, just to confirm, this fussiness and screaming is during feeding right? Only after?

She goes right to sleep after eating and wakes up about 30 minutes to an hour later, screaming and crying and pulling her legs up.  She's fine while she's eating, though.
