Baby has a kidney cyst

Any ladies here have this?

I am just about 35 weeks and this is the first they have seen it. Apparently, her right kidney is perfect and functioning but her left has a 1cm cyst at the top and may or may not be hindering function. The only this the fetal med doc said was that everything was to be determined after birth by pediatrics.

I already have GD and SUA, ugggg! i know not to worry until we know more, but I am so afraid for my little gal.

Re: Baby has a kidney cyst

  • DS had a cyst or something on his left kidney that they monitored from around 28 weeks until he was 6 weeks old. He still had it when he was born but it resolved by his 6 week renal u/s. They never did figure out what it was for sure. These things are pretty common and they typically prove to be nothing. However, if it is something, it's usually something that can be easily corrected with minor surgery.

  • Thank you! I am hoping for "it resolved itself" answers. those are the best. I am feeling better about it and I know I need to be tough for my girl.
