For those moms who say their LOs are STTN, what does that mean to you? How many hours?
My LO has been sleeping 7-8 hour stretches for several weeks now, but last night she got a 9.5 hour one in. I finally started feeling like that is more so STTN.
What is the longest they will generally go? A friend said her baby sleeps 12 hours every night, but I wasn't sure if that meant that he doesn't wake up at all to feed.
Re: What does STTN mean to you?
Well, this is coming from someone with a baby who hasn't gone more than 4 hours (and rarely goes that long), but I'd consider 6+ hours STTN if those hours were in the middle of the night (not, like, 7 pm-1 am...but 12 am-6 am).
That said, my standards are very low because STTN is something we haven't even come remotely close to in 11 weeks.
Agreed! If he's asleep before midnight and sleeps until 5am I consider that STTN in my house!
It's not so much hours to me as not waking up until daylight
Although I would say if he sleeps from 9p - 5a, even though it's still dark at 5a, I would consider that STTN. He was doing so well with 6-8 hours consistently until the last 3 nights. Now he's back to waking every 3 or so hours
This. ONCE she slept from 11-6:30, but she usually goes to bed around 10/11 and is up around 2/3, 5/6, 8/9, then up for the day.
This was my mentality too although the last 2 nights with a 6 hour stretch each night felt so good that I called it STTN. I think part of it too is that M is falling back asleep faster too vs. before when not only was she waking every 2-3 hours but we'd also be up for an hour or sometimes more before she went back down. If I can go back to sleep within a half an hour of being woken up it goes a long way to me feeling rested in the morning.
I feel your pain! DD usually sleeps for 4 hour stretches. On a good night it's 5.
This is how I feel, too. I didn't consider LO's 6 hour stretches to be STTN because I was still getting up at 3 or 4am. I started considering him STTN when he was going 10pm-6am.
