I gained 5 pounds in 3 days! WTF!!!

I have been gaining weight slow and steady this whole time, as of last week I had gained 10 pounds total and was really feeling good...now all of the sudden I'm up 5 pounds in 3 days!  I'm not really upset about this, just surprised.  I have been super tired these last few days but haven't changed my eating habits...has this happened to anyone else???

  • Yes.. last week I gained 7 pounds.. a entire pound a day! My doc had told me that from now on I should gain 1 pound a week, not a day. This week I seemed to maintain the same weight. I guess it's normal. I would just worry if you were gaining that much every week.

  • It is probably water weight... don't freak out. Eat some watermelon which is a natural diurectic. :)

  • Based on my last OB appointment, I gained 16 pounds in the last 4 weeks. WTF. I am on the pound a week plan from here on out, as well. Holy eff.

  • It's normal to gain in spurts - especially in the 2nd tri. It could also be waterweight from some salty foods or from walking in the heat.

  • It's probably water and poop.  No really.  I am not regular anymore and my weight fluctuates a lot because of it.

This. I gained 7 pounds in 4 weeks and was SHOCKED. Both my midwife and my mom said not to worry because this is a time of a lot of growth.

  • I wouldn't worry about it.  Just for kicks, I weighed myself every morning and night for a week and it was quite common for me to gain 3-4 pounds in a single day.  But then the next morning I'd be back to "normal."  Water weight/retention, poop, eating a larger meal... they all seem to add on the weight throughout the day.
