Anyone know if taking magnesium supplements could delay labor? Been on them for a couple months for muscle cramping and they seem to have helped but I don't want to delay my labor by taking them as I'm due in about a week. I read somewhere that hospitals use it to stop premature labor.
You'd have to talk to your doctor about that, but I believe that the amount that they give you to stop labor is a really high dose. Did you not tell your doctor that you are taking them?

I've considered this myself. I take it for leg cramps too. Went 40 weeks 2 days with DD and 38 weeks 2 days with the twins. It's Magnesium Sulfate they give for premature labor and its in that context that I heard about the Mg supplements to help hold off premature labor with multiples. I don't think the dosages are really strong enough to hold off a regular delivery. There's some antedoctal evidence of it working for multiple preterm stuff.
