Postpartum Depression

Do meds do the trick

I am most likely going to be put on some type of med for PPD. Can you tell me whether you felt they worked. I need some motivation since I was hoping I wouldnt have to take this route. Also what type were you on and do you remember about how long it took to kick in? I am feeling a little desperate and can only hope my mind feels better SOON!

Re: Do meds do the trick

  • I just recently went on Celexa.  It only took about 3 days to really kick in.  It has really helped me.  I don't feel like I'm in a fog anymore.  I'm not having panic attacks, which was my main problem.  I still feel a little anxious at times, but now it is a lot more manageable.

My only complaint is that I'm a little more drowsy, but not like I just want to go lay in bed like I used to.  It's hard to explain.  Also, I yawn all the time.  Apparently this is one of the side effects.

Good luck.  I hope you find something that works for you.

  • On the right meds I definitely notice a HUGE difference, but I didn't find the right meds until a few weeks ago. I have been on numerous meds (I think I wrote a list for you in a previous post), and it wasn't until I started Concerta that I felt truly better. I could not function without meds.
