Do you give LO more than they would usually get in a bottle the rest of the day? DS STTN for the first time last night and I was really engorged when I woke up this morning. I decided that I would take this opportunity to pump to see if I could get some extra BM to add to my stash. DS has been getting 3 1/2 oz. per bottle at daycare but our DCP told me yesterday that he seemed to want a little more so he may be going through a growth spurt. I gave him 4 oz. in a bottle this morning and was able to pump 7 oz. I also sent 4 oz. in his bottles for the day.
All this to ask - do you give LO more in that first bottle of the day because he/she hasn't eaten in so long?
Re: If you pump first thing in the AM and give LO a bottle...
Charlotte doens't STTN, but she only gets up once, so she hasn't eaten in 3+ hours when she gets up in the morning. I actually start with less because she likes to "talk" to me and not eat. I just send a little more to daycare and let them feed her.
