background: I am 34 weeks pregnant (first kid) with placenta previa (placenta covering my cervix, will necessitate a c-section a couple weeks before my due date). No issues/complications at all so far but I _could_ have bleeding and it's probably getting more likely as I get closer to term.
My dad (in CA) called and suggested we check into a hotel near Inova Fairfax in case there are trees down from the hurricane and something happens (i.e., severe bleeding) and we can't get out of our neighborhood. I think the odds of both are low... but are we better safe than sorry?
Complicating factor is we're hosting a party Saturday night (40ish people).
In the interest of total disclosure, I did book a room Sat-Mon, which can be cancelled up to 4 pm Saturday. Mainly in case the power goes out... figured it wouldn't be too comfortable at home.
Thoughts? Good idea or total overreaction? And anyone know the latest forecast on when we are supposed to have the worst conditions? I may keep the reservation for Sunday but cancel Saturday.
Re: good idea or total overreaction?
I think its a bit overreating though I had ds right after the first blizzard in 2009 and had DH out there shovelling every 30 minutes because I was hellbent on not going in an ambulance...haha
I would cancel it definitely for the first part of the weekend....aren't we just supposed to get bad rain here??
good luck, hang in there!!
how far are you from the hospital?
I think you'll be fine
All of this...
My lo was born Dec 18 2009, the day the first blizzard hit. I had a c-section and was at the hospital the whole time, the ride home that monday was horrible.
Go with your gut, do whatever you are most comfortable with.
I think that only you can make that decision since you are the one carrying the baby. If you are worried, then you should go to the hotel. I know it is disappointing to postpone a party but at this point in your pregnancy it is more important that you do what makes you feel calm and in control.
About the latest weather forecast, I know that hurricanes are pretty unpredictable and that it could be really bad or not bad at all.
Go with your instincts, that is what we as mothers have to do every day after all
