Gee it must be nice to be on vacation

It's been so long that I've forgotten what a vacation is.  Last vacation I took was my honeymoon in 2004.  2005 DH and I visited my sister in South Carolina.  2006- DH and I moved to SC.  2007-to the present- Go Up to NY to visit friends and family (which does NOT count as a vacation in my book. A vacation is staying in a hotel or condo and doing touristy things or relaxing on a nice sandy beach.)  

Grrrr  I want a darn vacation, but it is just not in the budget right now and I'm sure it would be a big pain with a toddler and an infant.  

My sister is living the life.  I keep seeing posts and pictures of her on the beach "Relaxin' on the beach"  "Seafood Dinner tonight",   "Having a Blast!"   "Girls Night Out".   Blah Blah Blah.  

Jealous?  You bet.  Super jealous.   My DH is on notice that I want to go somewhere for our 10 yr anniversary.  With or without kids I don't care.  Nicholas will be 5 1/2 and Ava will be 3 1/2, so they'll be pretty self sufficient by then.   So he better figure something out- he's got 3 years.   

Anyone else not been on vacation in a million years?   Please say "yes" so I don't feel like a loser who never goes anywhere.

    Well, I am on vacation, but not on A vacation.  I am just off for the summer.

    I haven't been on a vacation we had to pay for since our honeymoon. We do go to the beach in Maine every year but it's with my parents...it is relaxing but I don't really consider it vacation because I don't really feel like Im getting away.

    Exactly.  I wouldn't consider it a vacation either.

    We took 2 weekends in my 3rd trimester last fall to drive a couple hours, one on our own and one to stay with friends, but they were the first in years and years!  And they were specifically taken with this issue in mind, esp. with #2 on the horizon -- we were desperate to go somewhere other than to see family!  And then in June we went to the GTG. :)

    Our last vacation was in 2005 which was a cruise to mexico. We only go to missouri to visit my family but as you said, that is no vacstion.
