Pregnant after IF

BRU Returns Warning

Hi Ladies!!  I hope all of you are doing well, and your pregnancies have been complication free!  I lurk every now and again, and silently cheer you all on!!!

I came across an issue with BRU yesterday that I wanted to make you aware of, if you choose to register there...  I went to return a defective product, that we received at our baby shower in May, with a gift receipt in its original packaging.  When I got there, I was told that my return was outside their 90-day return window, and that I could be offered the sale price of the item, even though I had the receipt stating that my guest paid full price for the item.  However, when I went to checkout with the exact same product, I was told I owed $26.43 -- the difference between the sale price they just offered me for my defective product and the price of the new one!!!  How is this an even exchange???

The woman ringing me out told me that they didn't have to take it back at all, but would do it just this one time for me.  (Thanks!)  I even explained that my children were 6 weeks early and spent a month in the NICU (June-July), so most of our gifts hadn't even been opened yet.  I've sent a complaint to their customer service department as well.

If you register with them, and receive items from their stores, test them all out before the 90-day mark, otherwise you may not be able to return them for the prices your guests paid.

Just an FYI...

Re: BRU Returns Warning

  • That is beyond frustrating. I have never been impressed with BRU. I would call customer service. That is wrong.

  • Wow-- thanks for the heads up and sorry you had to deal.  I've never been a fan of BRU, but ended up registerng there in addition to other places b/c a few of my guests complained that I didn't register at a store near them.  I'll make sure we test everything out when we get it.

This the ONLY reason I registered at BRU. I hate them and have for years. Thanks for the heads-up
  • That's crazy.  I can understand limitations on regular returns, but with a defective product it doesn't make sense why they didn't just swap out the products.  Sorry you had to deal with that.  I've had nothing but good luck (so far) with dealing with returns at BRU.  I think it really depends on the store and who you deal with.

  • One way around this is to buy another one then use that reciept to return the defective one. Shouldn't have to go through all that, but stores with bad customer sevice leave you with few options.
    siggy should be here!
  • BRU states that they have a 6 month "hassle free" return policy for gift registry items for even used items. We ended up not liking our swing so I called to make sure that we could return it even though it was used before we packed the whole thing up in the car along with Birdie and returned it. The woman told me that they would have to see it to make the decision, and when I got there, it was a bit of a hassle, but they did end up taking it back. Not sure why she said you were only 90 days, but they seem really inconsistent with their policies, and they are not friendly at all.
