Not ready for Bumbo yet?

Anyone have a LO who isn't ready for the Bumbo yet? I tried it out with my DD. I've heard of people saying their LO slumps over in the Bumbo when not ready. My DD does the total opposite. She arches her back and tilts her head back the second she gets in there. She normally have pretty good head control and sits on our laps pretty frequently and enjoys it.

Am I missing something here?

Maybe the seat seems hard to her? My DS cries when I try to put him in it, and that's what I think is the reason.

I put autumn in a bumbo at a month old and she loved it! she smiled the whole time. She couldnt suppport herself but I positioned her so taht her neck rested on the back of it and it has really helped to strengthen her neck muscles!

I would say it's prob like tummy time, just keep trying for a minute or two at a time and work your way up.

My DS did the same thing at first. I thought it might be because he loves to look at the ceiling fan, but I'm sure he also just thought it was weird.

I waited a few weeks and tried again and his head is normal in it now but he still doesn't look too comfortable. I don't push it; I just hold him on my lap or support him sitting up on the floor.

DD loved the bumbo last month, this month... not so much. She does the same, arching her back when she's in it. Weird. Recently I've been sitting her on the couch like a "big girl" and wrapping the boppy around her front like a tray and giving her a toy to play with while I sit next to her. She loves that, but hates the bumbo. Whatever makes her happy.

Am I the only slacker mom that doesn't even own a bumbo? I actually prefer the Bebe Pod to the bumbo and am planning on getting one but I thought those seats are for later down the road when they can sit up.

I do this with V too, and she loves to sit with the Boppy and watch the ceiling fan. I also have the same Boppy cover that's in your siggy picture.

My first daughter was like that. She hated the bumbo. Olivia loves it.

Just keep trying a little each day.
