Two Under 2

Hellooooooo Ladies!

I just got my BFP yesterday so for 4 months next summer I will have 2U2!

WooHoo!

So a quick question for you; what did you do with your first when you had dr's appointments for your second?

  • Woohoo! Congrats and welcome!

I brought LO #1 to all the appointments. I think it's fine to, except I'd advise not bringing LO for the GBS test (or any pants off tests). I had to wait 20 minutes pantless since my dr was running behind with a wiggly toddler who was trying to get into everything. LOL.

  • Congrats :)

As long as it's a routine appt where I don't have to be pantsless, I take DD with me. I just strap her into the stroller and keep her occupied with books or a snack. She's usually really good and just sits back and watches everything. I do have GD, so when I go for appts where they are doing an NST or u/s I ask a friend to watch her. I can't think of anything that would make a non-stress test more stressful than an 18 month old :P

  • I brought DD with me to all of my appointments when I was pregnant with DS1. I have brought DD and DS1 to almost all of my appointments with this pregnancy also. I've only had someone available to watch them once, unless it was for an ultasound appointment.

  • I guess I'm in the minority here - I never brought Drew to any appointments.

My doctor's office is very close to where I work which is also very close to Drew's babysitter.  I scheduled most appts for right after work (or skip lunch break and leave 30 min early) and then have Drew stay at the babysitter just a little longer those days. Most appts are so short that I wasn't really that late to pick him up.

For longer appointments (glucose test etc), I'd schedule them for Fridays b/c that is DH's day off so he kept Drew while I went to the doctor after work.  For our two ultrasounds we had my mom babysit so we could both go.

There were always one or two women with their older children in the waiting room at my OBs office so I know it's very common to bring them.  I just preferred not to and, thankfully, I was able to easily work around it.

  • My DD has come to every appt with me except ultrasounds. I just put her in the umbrella stroller and give her toys and books and she's usually fine! The OB is used to babies and he delivered her so he actually enjoys seeing her! Plus because I'm pregnant my appts are usually quick because they get me right in.

  • I have a part time nanny but if she could not watch him then I would take him with me.  He was fine I would bring snacks and toys.
