Something weird happened to me...

I was at a fitting room at a store and I heard this tiny scream and I it was a little itty baby, I came out and this woman was just shoving a binki in his mouth and shushing him, not in a "hush little baby" but in a "hush before more people look at us" I asked the woman how old was her baby and she said "a week" I won't go into why I think that's wrong because a lot of you would flame me but anyway, turned out the baby belonged to her sister in the fitting room but the baby kept crying louder and louder and in a more desperate cry, and for some reason I felt like I needed to hold this baby, make him feel better! This has never happened to me, ever  I was never the motherly type before LO my friends would joke saying "we sure hope you like your baby" lol. Has anything similar happened to you?

  • WTF was she cramming a bikini in his mouth? WEIRD.  I would have taken him and held him, too!

    Pretty sure it says binki.

But yes I have done this before, but I have always had mothering instincts. I am the oldest of 5, and the oldest grand child of 9. Have you had the issue where you hear a newborn cry and you leak?

Haha! I guess fitting room > bikini.

I'm glad it wasn't! That would have been nuts, lol!

  • Just reading the story made me want to track those girls down and take the baby from them.  I liked kids before LO, but wasn't 'motherly'.  Since LO arrived I don't know what has appened, but I feel the need to protect babies that don't appear to be receiving the utmost love an kindness by the caregivers.  You are not alone. :)  and at first I thought that said bikini too! Lol.
  • I just want to say that since you don't know the child, you may not know why he/she is crying.  I've had people shoot me dagger eyes because when I give my DD a bottle, she screams and thrashes until she decides to take the bottle.  But it happens with EVERY bottle.  I'm not neglecting her but to others it may appear that I'm torturing her.  Having people stare and judge me without knowing my DD's medical history makes me feel like that much more of a failure.

Bahaha.  I read it as bikini the first time too.  What a mental image.
