So, my daughter's school has asked parents to participate in the classroom by teaching/showing/whatever something to the kids. I've offered...I figured I SAH, I really have no great excuse and I'd actually love to be a fly-on-the-wall in her class. But, I don't know what to do. And, here's the twist. I live in a Spanish-speaking country but I don't speak Spanish. My daughter goes to a bilingual school so I should be able to get by but still....
Here are the only ideas I came up with:
-read a book
-play a game - any ideas on what game I could do with ~12 3-year-olds?
-cook something - although there's no oven (?-not sure why they said I could cook something!)...I could bring in cookies though and have the kids frost & decorate them which would certainly be a crowd-pleaser and possibly make me a "cool" mom with the toddler crowd
ETA: No, I don't consider NYC a Spanish-speaking country...I moved recently but haven't bothered and/or figured out how to update my location. ![]()
Re: need ideas! activities to teach a class of 3-year-olds?
Go to www.everythingpreschool.com
You can click on themes and find all sorts of great ideas.
Yes! Do you know of any? I'm not really a crafty girl!
Nope, no theme. I think their intent is to have parents/family members participate who speak English so they're trying to make it as comfortable as possible (and the kids are 3 years old so it's not like we need to be focusing on their algebra with them). The themes they've covered so far (that I recall) are: families, animals (farm and wildlife), weather, neighborhoods....I'm sure there are many more but I don't recall!
Play Musical Squares: Play this game just like musical chairs. Place squares around the floor and when the music stops, children find a square to sit down on.
Mystery Art: Allow children to draw on white watercolor paper with white crayon. Then have the children paint with watercolors and watch the ?mystery art? appear.
Two of my favorite things to do:
1. Get a large square tupperware container. The children can put a sheet of construction paper in it. Add a marble and some paint. Put the lid on and let the children shakes their boxes. Mess free artwork!
2. Fold a sheet of construction paper in half and then open it back up. Put paint on one side of the construction paper. Fold the paper in hald and have the child rub. Open the paper back up and see what you created. You can be done with the activity o extend it by having the children add hands, eyes, ect. This will make cute and funny monsters.
