VBAC

VBAC after CS twins?

I had my twins at 33 weeks in January. We aren't TTC anytime soon but I had a HORRIBLE C-Section (just about everything went wrong... let me say throwing up 12 hours after CS is NOT comfortable!) I want to have a VBAC with the next (hopefully just one) baby but there are only a few drs in my area that do that. Has anyone had a VBAC after CS? Do you recommend it? Discourage it? I almost don't want to have another if I have to have another CS!

Re: VBAC after CS twins?

  • Well, I'd always recommend VBAC if that's what the woman wants!  And I'll turn your timeline in reverse:  My SIL VBACed twins five weeks ago!  It was a hell of a fight to get the hospital to agree, but she had a great experience!  Good luck!

  • That's my plan!

I am seeing a dr who is allowing me to try to VBAC with baby #3 this fall. I too had a c/s with my twins (was induced but had to be converted to a c/s) and my recovery for it was a nightmare. I am praying that this baby will stay vertex (that is my new dr's requirement for letting me VBAC) and all will go as planned.

  • That's great! I wanted to have my twins naturally but they both turned breech in the last 2 weeks. The whole time only one was breech and they were considering letting me try but once Baby A turned breech they said no way! :o( My recovery was a nightmare too. We had a huge snow storm (In Oklahoma... we aren't prepared for an inch much less a few feet!) right after they were born. They were in the NICU and recovering while sleeping on a Kangaroo Care chair is not ideal. My mom and I stayed in their hospital room because all of the guest rooms in the hospital and near it were full and the roads were all closed. And on top of that my husband got sick and wasn't allowed in the NICU for a 10 days. I just can't imagine going through that again! I dream of having a baby and getting to hold it immediately (not half a day later) and love on it and take it right home....
  • There's a few local mama's I know that have VBAC'd after twins - having home births.
  • A little different - I had a twin vbac after my daughter. My Dr. never hesitated when I asked to do this. Each birth had pros and cons.

  • I'm 39+ weeks pregnant with a singleton and am hoping for a VBAC (had a c/s with twins at 33 weeks).  I never thought in a million years that i'd be looking at the possibility of carrying this baby to full term and therefore hadn't considered the decreased success rate if i need to be induced.  Decisions, decisions...
