Success after IF

Secretary of the school called back

They forgot to put the afternoon teachers' information. The Child study team told us they would be in the special needs class in the afternoon. They put them in the morning. We wanted afternoon because they'd be getting their academics twice if not AND they do social skills in the afternoon. They need social skills which is only done in the afternoon. How can you have a kid with autism NOT getting social skills?

Then, they split the kids even though we were clear they were NOT to be in different classes. The secretary said they principal will have to call me after he calls the CST. They may have to stay split. I'm spitting fire! It's not even school yet and we have ***!?

I had *** all last year with this district between the boys' teacher doing things that were beyond their development, i.e addition, subtraction, and number sentences in a 4 year old preschool, expectations of first and last name perfect on day 1...I could go on and on.  Last year we also filed due process for Chris as we disagreed with the educational testing and IEP.  I am having panic attacks that this year will be the same.

Not to mention holy fudge this will be a HUGE b-day party. Each kindergarten can have up to 22 kids in a class.  The afternoon class will have up to 12 kids.  So, invitations for 56 kids for a gd birthday party!  I need a drink.....

Re: Secretary of the school called back

  • I really hope the school really gets their act together soon.
  • Loading the player...
  • I really hope they can get things figured out. Remember that if it is in the IEP that they aren't to be split apart and are going to be in the afternoon class then the school legally has to comply. (hugs) I know how hard it is to work with the school district and get them to do the things they legally have to do.
