Not WMR: Wedding Rings

I have an engagement ring and matching 'band' that is more like a ring than a band making it a set.  I would really like a band.  I'm not exactly sure when I would wear it but I just feel like I want one.  Does anyone wear one on their right side or would this just be worn instead of the engagement/band combo?  I'm trying to figure out what size to get it in since my right ring finger is a 1/2 size up from my left.  Thanks for input.

  • I am confused - you want to replace what you have or get another piece of jewelry? Either way, it is fine - I am just confused.

Yeah, I'm a little confused too.  Are you looking to wear this ring on your right hand or use it in place of your current e-ring/wedding ring combo on your left hand?

  • Totally confused.  Hmm

  • Yeah, I guess I I'm not sure - so it makes sense that you guys are confused.  I suppose no one has both a ring set and then a separate band?  While I like my 'set' I feel like there are times when I don't want to be wearing it b/c I fear it getting caught on something, losing it, etc. - swimming, softball, etc, but then wonder if it is acceptable to wear it on the other hand when I am not 'replacing' my current set.  You may have answered my question.
  • My wedding "band" is a white gold and diamond "right hand" ring that I liked better than any designated wedding band.  It got a bit of a swirly design on it with a bunch of pave diamonds and is about 1/4" thick.  I wear it on my left hand with my engagement ring.

  • My DH bought my engagement ring and wedding ring - it was a dual ring type design.  As the stone was raised I often snagged it with my clothes, hair, etc... so I got us anniversary bands for our 5th year anniversary.  The band is flat and I prefer the fact that it's simple.

So you wear this on your left hand in replacement of your set?  Thanks for your input.  I mean, I suppose I can do whatever I want to do.  Just curious what others do.

  • Do what you want. It's your hand.

I have a chanel diamond band, plain gold band and solitare engagement ring. I wear different combinations depending on my mood. A good friend wears her e-ring on her right and wedding band on her left.

  • I now get what you are saying. My sis has a plain band which she got for when she didn't want to wear her actual e-ring. But now I am pretty sure she just skips it and goes bare.

  • At some point, I would like to get a different band as well, and when I do, it will replace my wedding rings on my left hand.  No permanently, but just to mix things up a bit.  But I also think you can wear a band on your right hand if you want.  I know people who have large engagement rings that wear them alone on their right hand, with their wedding band on their left hand.  I think anything goes.

  • I have a matching engagement ring and wedding ring set that I used to wear on my left ring finger (obviously).  However, after 2 pregnancies I can barely get those rings on that finger, so I started wearing them on my right hand because that ring finger is a bit smaller than my left hand ring finger.  My DH got me an eternity band for our last anniversary so I wear that on my left hand now.  I usually wear my wedding set on my right hand, but sometimes I wear other rings on that hand, or none at all.

Do whatever the heck you want!

  • My wedding band is plain white gold--no etching or bling. My engagement ring is the past-present-future style. Before my last pg, I could wear both together on my left hand comfortably. I swelled up at 23-24wks, couldn't wear them for the rest of the pg and though my ring size has returned I'm not comfortable wearing both together. So the wedding band is on my left and the engagement is on my right (when I remember to put them on....). I don't see anything wrong with wearing your rings any way you want.
