3rd Trimester

swelling

As of this week I'm no longer working but I have been staying busy around the house and running errands. Im measuring 38wks with my twins so Im feeling symptons of someone who really is 38wks. I keep noticing that after a couple of hrs my feet hurt and I get lots of swelling, its worse on my right ankle too, weird. Anyhow, just curious if you ladies have any tips for keeping swelling/pain down? I know the obvious is to stay off my feet which I'm going to have to try to start doing more of but I hate to just sit around. Any other remedies that you know of that work? Sometimes its so bad I can't stand to even be on my feet at all by the end of the day! TIA

Re: swelling

  • Can you go swimming at all? Or at the very least, take a bath or soak your feet?

Other than that, keeping your feet and legs elevated and drinking lots of water.

  • My ankles showed some signs of swelling, so I did some research and found that if you lay on your left side, it is supposed to help. My swelling isn't bad, so I haven;t been going crazy laying on my side, but maybe that will help you feel better.

  • Do you drink a lot of water? I have a huge mug that I keep beside me at work that I sip on all day. No swelling at all so far! I know that lemon is a natural diuretic so lemon water may help too.

  • thanks ladies, I drink a ton of water I must refil my 32oz nalgene bottle at least 4x a day. The swelling is really just bad when Im on my feet alot, not all the time. I'll have to try adding some lemon to my water, sounds yummy too! And laying on my left! :)

I just wanted to say have fun with your twins. My mom got pregnant naturally with identical twins as well - I'm one of them. She always dreamed of having twin girls and her dream came true. You will have a blast!!!

  • Sorry, but the best thing is to keep your feet up as much as possible and drink water all day long.
  • I'm measuring 42 weeks and just in the last week has the swelling become an issue.

I finally have to just sit with the feet up, and drink water (hard while chasing a two year old).

I think the heat is making it worse, because it's been extra hot here too : (
