Scheduled a prenantal massage!

I've had a gift certificate for a massage since my birthday last Oct. I forgot about it until I found it at the bottom of my purse! Embarrassed

I called them up and changed it to a prenatal massage (only $5 more) and I'm so excited! I'm going in on Saturday. I'm hoping it will relieve my back pain and I will be able to sleep!

I've never had a massage before. Any advice on what to expect?

    That sounds awesome!

    I've never had a prenatal massage (just regular) so I wouldn't know what to expect either!

    The therapist will have you lay on your side and then switch over to the other side since you can't lay on your belly. I've heard that the tables with the hole in it for your belly (so you can lay face down) are bad for your back....

    If you can tolerate laying on your back they might let you do that too. I have no problem being on my back and at my massage on Monday I was on my back while she massaged feet, legs, hands, arms, neck and head.

    You're going to love it! It feels so good and I think that pregnancy massages help your body tremendously with going through the growing process.

    Too funny!  I got a gift card for my bridal shower last August from my MIL that I was going to use before my wedding in October.  That didn't happen, so I just used it for my 30th birthday last weekend and got a prenatal massage and pedi.

    I had never had a massage before either so I wasn't sure what to expect.  I am still comfortable laying on my stomach, so there was a donut pillow for my stomach and I was fine.  I was not a fan of the deep tissue massage however.  In hindsight, I should have spoken up because the next few days I felt like I had gotten jumped by a gang and was so sore, but I didn't know any better at the time.  So, my advice is just to speak up if it's uncomfortable and tell them how much pressure you want.  Enjoy!

    I have only had regular massages but it is a wonderful thing. Hubby and I are going on a babymoon weekend in PA in October and part of the package is a prenatal massage for me and a swedish massage for him.  I can't wait!
