new mom groups

i am a new mom, ds is 6 weeks, and i am on maternity leave until october.  i am looking for any classes/ new mom groups near the schaumburg area.  it seems that hospitals have classes, but at a cost.  i am hoping to find some events to go to with the lo without having to pay, especially because the lo is not on any kind of schedule, so if i miss it, i wont be losing money.

    Have you tried meetup.com?  My friend joined arlingtonheightsmoms.com and I think they have people from all over the nw burbs.

    I know I'll definitely be looking for one come December in the SW burbs. I did see some when I was kind of scoping online at different websites (ones for attachment parenting and baby wearing). I'm just not sure if that's going to be my style at the moment.
