Prenatal massage recommendations

Hi!

I'm 13 weeks pregnant and already having some back issues.  I take yoga, but think a massage might be helpful.  Can anyone recommend any good prenatal massage therapists?  I'd prefer something in the Edwardsville, IL area or somewhere nearby.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Prenatal massage recommendations

  • If you are having back issues I would really go see a chiropractor.  Some of them specialize in prenatal care and can do wonders.  A few of my girlfriends are pain free because they go every few weeks.  Most good practices will have a website or you can just call and see if they have someone who specializes in pregnancy.

  • With my last pregnancy I went to Spa of Tranquility in Glen Carbon. It was definately worth it. Just look for the Mommy to Be section.>>https://spaoftranquility.com/spaservices.htm

  • I loved my prenatal massage therapist!! She is also a doula and really understood body mechanics to support a woman's body during pregnancy. She comes to your home and set up the table, etc. It's wonderful and very therapeutic! And I'm pretty sure she lives in IL, too! Her name is Michelle VanZeyl. Her contact info is here:

I don't live in STL anymore, but if I did, I would see her! :)

  • Hi I am a massage Therapist and I am also pregnant. I am from edwardsville area as well. Massage does great things for pregnancy. Chiropractic does as well. I just went and got adjusted and my back pain has went away also. I still continue to get massages because it helps with so many things durring pregnancy that most people are not aware of. So i would say do both if you can afford it. =)

Those are just some. Sorry I didnt mean to go over board but if you didnt really know what massage does I just wanted to fill you in. Its also great if your planning a natural birth and its great for post part-um while the body is returning back to normal.
