baby soap

So I was reading a blog today that had a link to a study. It says most baby soaps, etc. including the brand I've been using were found to have formaldehyde in them. My questions are: 1) Has anyone ever heard this before? 2) What kind of baby soap do you use?

  • Absolutely, there are tons of nasty things in the majority of products out there today, even the ones we trust to be used on our babies :-(  Be careful not to buy into labels that say natural, without reading the ingredients (which aren't always fully disclosed) and researching further.  "Natural" has no regulation, and is often used as a marketing tool.

The Environmental Working Groups website has ratings of all kinds of soaps, lotions, cosmetics, etc.  They tell what ingredients are in a product, and what potential effects said ingredient may have.  (cosmeticdatabase dot org)

As far as soap for baby, our whole family actually uses Dr. Bronners bar soap.  We also like California Baby products.

    CA Baby - no ickies!

    Ditto.

  • I use CA baby, but diluted in a foaming pump. I'm not a quarter of the way through the bottle yet and my kid is 13 mos old.
