perinatologist

I am diabetic (pre exisiting) and will be going to see Perinatologist Sept 8th. I will be getting an ultrasound that day and wanted to know if anyone has had one with a specialist before. Was it transvaginal or a traditional ultrasound? How was your overall experience?

Re: perinatologist

  • I see one for my Lupus. I get an U/S at every appt and it's always been the traditional one. I enjoy my dr and all her staff they are great so the experience is always pleasant. The best thing is knowing how closely you are being watched.

I have seen one too for every ultra sound. All our the traditional one. They are very thorough and at least mine likes to cover all the bases:)

  • I see one for a history of short cervix. I get both, but the transvaginal are just to measure my cervix. I would imagine you'd only get the regular u/s.

  • I haven't been to the peri for this baby but I did for my other babies. I love that office because they have large flat screens on the wall for you to see the baby during the US.

I have lupus too! I really like my dr., and the care I'm getting from them and from my rheumatologist is great and very comforting.  How are you feeling?  How long have you had lupus/what's it been like for you? I was diagnosed about 7 1/2 years ago, but have been lucky to have pretty mild and controllable symptoms, all very responsive to medications.

OP: I've always had regular ultrasounds.  This is the only baby dr. I've been to, so I have nothing to compare to, but other than being seen more often I think it's pretty normal.

  • Thanks Ladies! I was just curious because my SO sister got one when she was 13 weeks because of her previous pregnancy and she said they did them vaginally. Maybe she meet during that one week because she was still early Idk but I guess ill see when I go.

  • I have type 1 diabetes and see my Perinatologist every 4 weeks right now for an ultrasound. I love my doc and all the extra peeks at my baby :) at 18 weeks, they will do a traditional ultrasound and measure baby to make sure everything is on track with LO.
