I am assuming I have what is a migraine. Assuming because I've never had a migraine before in my life. It's a throbbing headache that doesn't go away with Tylenol like normal headaches do. I also have the light sensitivity and nausea/vomiting and the pain increases with increased pressure.
I've had it since I woke up ysterday morning and it seems like nothing I do helps. I've tried Tylenol, resting in a dark, silent room, and also an ice pack on my head and neck. I called in sick work today because I dealt with it at work yesterday but didn't have the vomiting like I do now.
Is this pregnancy related? For people that get them regularly, is there anything else I can be doing for it besides meds? Will it go away on its own? Thanks so much!
Re: Migraine?
They say headaches can be pregnancy related. I used to get them every single day during the late 1st tri/first few weeks of 2nd tri.
As for how to get rid of them? I would call your OB and let him know. I've heard some ladies have been prescribed something to help. But I have nothing else to offer other than that because you've tried everything I would have.
I really hope this passes quickly for you hun!!
I had some really bad ones during the beginning of the 2nd trimester (until about 17-18 weeks). Throbbing pain on one side of my head that would start in my eye and slowly up my head and to the back of my neck. Like you, I tried Tylenol and other stuff, but it wasn't until my OB prescribed Norco (acetaminophen + hydrocodone) that I was able to get some relief. He also prescribed Zofran, because if the migraines went on long enough, I'd start throwing up anything I ate/drank, including medication.
They decreased in frequency until they eventually went away at about 18 weeks, so I think there was a hormone component to them. I hope your OB is able to offer some relief, and hopefully they'll be gone in a few weeks.

I don't believe that God ever tells us "no". he has three options. Yes, not right now, or I have something better in mind. We just have to wait & see.
Thanks ladies! I appreciate the advice. I did call OB's office this a.m. and they were less than helpful. I explained that I was 14 weeks pg and that I started having a migraine-like headache when I woke up yesterday. I said it's not resolved with Tylenol, ice packs, or resting in a dark, quiet room. I also told her I was more concerned because I'm a Type 1 diabetic and when I eat anything, I vomit. (I haven't had any vomiting with this pg before). She said to call my PCP's office. What the heck kind of OB office is that? I am not happy.
So I called my PCP's office and fortunately my PCP himself called back within an hour. He's going to call in a rx for Fioricet. He said to use it sparingly though and not to take it in 3rd tri. He said it's a Category C drug, although I looked it up in my drug book here at home and it said it's a category D. So I have an email in to the NP at my MFM's office to see what she says about this.
