Do you go for a yearly appt with your Primary Care Dr?
I have been bad about going.. I don't even want to admit how long it's been.. so I need to make an appointment for a bunch of stuff (like migraine meds, flu shot, etc).
How long did it take you to get an appt? Just curious.. I don't want to have to wait months, but I wasn't sure if they get a ton of appts this time of year (because of school physicals and stuff).
Re: Yearly/physical appts
I go every year.
I think it depends on the practice as to how long you wait for an appt but I just called to set mine up and they can get me in 2 weeks from now (but I also had a very specific day/time window)
I would make sure to note that it's been awhile since your last appt and you have several issues to discuss- just because sometimes an annual visit is super quick and you dont want to feel rushed or have the doc be rushing to his next appt...KWIM?
I'm good about going to my yearly OB appointment, but not so much w/ my primary care doc. I do need to make an appointment to get a new refill for my inhaler... I know they'll want me to come in for a physical. Last time I called they called in a one time refill, and mentioned I hadn't been in for a physical in over 2 years... oops!
I go to a big group practice, so it's easy to get an appointment. If I'm sick and need to get in that day there is always someone who I can see. And even if I want to make an appointment w/ my doc I can always get in w/in a week.
Physicals at my doctor are scheduled a couple weeks out, mostly. But I know when the schedule is light because they call to try to get my DH to schedule an appointment. (He hasn't had a physical since the 90s when he was in the Army.)
I go every year because my PCP tracks my thyroid and writes the scripts for my thyroid meds. I am actually going today for bloodwork for my physical right after school starts.
