So sorry I have been gone so long!

I haven't gotten on here in almost 3 months - going back to work and raising my baby boy as well as having my DH gone all the time for coaching has made it almost impossible to ever get on here anymore. I'm trying to make more of an effort now : )

I have a question for you ladies: how much are your babies eating formula-wise now?

Noah was eating 6.5 oz but still eating every 3 hours - he was having a total of 5 bottles a day b/c he STTN. Well, with him starting solids (he eats twice a day at the moment), I wanted to try and get him down to 4 bottles a day. Can ANYONE hep with this? I am at a loss as to how to transition this. He still seems hungry based on the routine I've been doing, even with solids in the mix. And he's still waking up at different times every day so it's hard for me to get a solid routine going with him.

  • The solids are just for practice, he should be getting all of his nutrients from the formula until he's a year old. If you want to get him down to 4 bottles you should have him eat more than 6.5 oz per bottle.

  • I forgot to add that I have increased his bottles - he eats about 7.5 oz now. Should I increase to 8? How far apart should he be eating? This is just my problem, I feel like he is used to eating every 3 hours so he acts hungry anyway even though he shouldn't be.

  • So he's eating about 37.5 oz a day (hmmmm maybe that's why my kid is small, he'll only eat 27 oz) You could bump him up to 9 oz and that way he'll get roughly the same amount of food but with only 4 bottles. I think what's important is that he's eating the same amount so you could mess with his schedule to try to get him to eat every 4 hours. Is he STTN?

  • He is STTN - goes down at 8:00 usually wakes up sometime between 5-6 HUNGRY but goes back to sleep til almost 8. He was eating 5 bottles of 6.5 oz and my pedi keeps telling me he shouldn't eat more than 32 but he acts hungry! He's in 94% for weight and 88% for height, so he's obviously healthy and getting enough. I don't want to over feed him, that's really one of my biggest concerns along with getting him to quit eating every 3 hours.

  • Isaac takes 6 oz a day roughly every 3 hours but sometimes 4. he also takes 2oz in veggies and 2 oz in fruits at some point. We do not have a routine for when we feed him solids since things get kind of hectic around here.

  • We do 24 oz in a day made of four bottles. She also does three solids meals a day too. Sometime around four months, she just naturally went into this pattern and kept it. Prior to our four month appt though, she used to do upwards of 36 to 42 oz in a day. Sometimes I think though that I was misreading her cues back then and fed her when she was more than likely only tired.

  • I don't have any advice on feeding, but I wanted to say welcome back!  Smile
