I just found out I'm pregnant (apprx 6 weeks) and have now started looking for an OB doctor. I feel like the hospital is as equally important as the doctor. I live in Roxbury, but work in Chatham & Whippany area. Ideally, I would like to find a doctor / hospital closer to work, but would be open to one closer to home (or anywhere in between.) I am new to the area and I have not told anyone our good news, so I have no one to ask advice on this. Any recommendations you guys have will be appreciated.
Btw - I have heard Overlook hospital is a good option..?
Re: Need Recommendations for Maternity Hospital in Morris County
Both Overlook & St. Barnasbas are great hospitals. I"ll be delivering at St. Barnabas. Morristown Memorial is also a really good hospital.
Good luck!
I also use Women's Care Source (I live in Rockaway now) and I delivered in St. Clares. I almost chose Morristown, since I lived in Basking Ridge when I had my son, but my mom's friend is a maternity nurse and she was "on" the weekend of my induction, so I chose St. Clares in Denville. I don't think they deliver out of St. Barnabas but it may have changed over the last 2 years.
My "lead" OB in the group when I was pregnant was Dr. Brenin-Goldfischer. I really like her. And Dr. Shah delivered my son and I've been using her as my primary gynecologist (for annuals) ever since. She has a great bedside manner and gentle hands.
My suggestion is to tour the hospitals and make your choice after doing so if you choose them.

Either Saint Clares in Denville or Morristown. Both hospitals have new updated maternity units!
Saint Clares if you want an office with midwife and ob Marla Scott and Dr Rothenberg & Omey are great!
I delivered at Morristown in late May; I loved it. Great NICUs (if heaven forbid it is needed) at Morristown & St. Barnabas.
I love the care start to finish (I had a C-section & ended up staying 5 days) at Morristown.
Drs. Flores & Bissinger in Parsippany were my OB/GYNs.
Best of luck!

Sorry I missed this post over the weekend (damn hurricane). Anyway, I didn't have a C-section but I was induced at 41 weeks since my son didn't seem to be coming on his own. I had some complications (4th degree tears since he was 9 lb) but overall my vaginal birth was uneventful. The induction went well and I recovered pretty quickly (about 3 weeks after, I felt OK).
And I really liked St. Clares. Though I would have been equally comfortable at Morristown. It was the fact that my family friend worked there that cemented the choice.
