I thought it was cool.. Then I read that it's only banned before 39 weeks. People can still schedule their inductions at 39 weeks for no reason, and I'm sure tons do.

Yeah, I agree. Not cool if it allows them just for the heck of it. If there is a reason, fine. But, not just because "I'm uncomfortable" or "I want to know exactly when I'll have the baby".

While I would never schedule a c/s or induction early just to have my LO out on my schedule I really don't support gov't dictating what I can do with my body and am glad I don't live in OR. I had LO by c/s at 42 weeks and would have kept going if my doc hadn't said he's coming out now like it or not.

This. I had a medically necessary induction after 40 weeks but really do not like the idea that my midwife would have had to justify my induction to the state if the same set of circumstances had presented themselves a couple of weeks earlier.
I don't agree with elective inductions or c-sections, but I don't know if there is enough harm to justify the intrusion.

Agreed. The government should have ZERO say in what any of us do with our bodies!
Don't worry, Dr.'s are great at making up "medically necessary" reasons for early inductions and c-sections. I wonder if multiple pregnancies qualify as a medical reason, because if I had made it to full term there is no way in hell I would have agreed to wait until 39 weeks.

THIS. It's funny because as with banning circumcision, I bet a lot of the same people who beat the abortion at any time/stay out of my ute drum are the same people who support this banning as well. It goes both ways and the government needs to stay out of these decisions and leave it up to Dr.'s and their patients.
