Ian went to Children's today for his plastic surgery consult. They measured his head and he has severe plegiocephaly

There's a 15mm difference from the left side of his head compared to the right due to the torticollis. The doctor said that since he's only 5 months old (WOW! Hard to believe!) and since he was born 6 weeks early, we actually have a lot of time to fix it. We're going to start taking him to PT every other week. We also have a follow-up appointment in 6 weeks to see if his head has improved. The MD thinks there's a good chance that if we work with him in PT and give him lots of tummy time, he might grow enough to round out his head without a helmet. If there's enough improvement, we won't need a helmet at all

We also have a list of stretches for him (which the poor little one hates) to do 5 times a day to help with his neck. So, here's hoping we can get his little neck muscles to loosen up and his little head to round out!
Re: Update on Ian's Torticollis
Sounds like great news!
I know doing the PT and stretches must be tough but good for you for doing what's ultimately best for your little one. I am glad to hear you doctor's optimism!
