I'm looking for something fun for us to do this weekend, pretty much anywhere in the area, within about 1-1.5 hours of Ashburn. My DH had to start traveling for work this week, he will be gone Mon-Fri this week, then various days (between 4-6 days including travel time a week) each week for the next couple of months. Anyway, I'm rambling because I am absolutely wiped out and need to sleep after working last night, sorry. DH suggested we do a family activity (or 2) this weekend and has left it for me to figure out what. I don't have many ideas, so I'm looking for some more.
Ideas we are considering: doing a picnic at Great Falls (although I guess Irene might mess that up, huh?), taking the metro in to DC and doing something there, (DS loves the metro, and anything and everything trains). I know there is a circus or carnival in Ashburn this weekend that I'm considering...but those are the only possiblities I've come up with.
Any other thoughts or ideas? We are willing to go west towards Winchester (maybe dinosaurland? is it worth the drive? fun for a 3 year old?) or head in towards DC/MD. I know as far as my DH goes, the cheaper the better:)
Thanks in advance for any tips! Sorry this was so long:)
Re: Ideas for a "family" weekend?
-Puppet show @ glen echo park (https://www.thepuppetco.org/schedule/tiny-tots/) followed by carousel ride and picnic lunch.
-in dc, the building museum is great for kids
-if planes/rockets have any interest, there's the air & space museum out near dulles
we went to dinosaur land two weeks ago (I have pictures in my blog) and DD loved it. The place is totally cheesy but it is also really small. Not a place you can spend a lot of time. However, in the area there is the Blandy Farm, Wilson's Wild Animal Park and the Children's Museum that would make the trip out there worth it.
I think the weather might be kind of crappy this weekend :-(
really? where in Ashburn and what day?

Here you go! Looking briefly at the map, it appears to be off Ashburn Rd, if you follow it to the dead end near Rt 7.
