Just thought I'd pass along what I learned after calling the pedi about DS's stomach bug yesterday. She said one of the easiest ways to check for dehydration is to look in LO's mouth and make sure you can see spit bubbles. Just pull back the bottom lip and see if you can see bubbles of saliva along his gums, under/around his tongue, etc. If so, you're doing good. If not, you should definitely go see the doc.
So far we're doing ok. Per the pedi's direction, we've gone to only breastmilk until his tummy settles down, but it still worries me how much is just going right through him
Re: Tip from the Pedi - how to check for dehydration
That's a good tip so thanks for sharing.
I hope he gets better soon. I know it's concerning when they don't seem quite well but you don't know what is wrong.
put aquaphor on her after each diaper change to create a buffer b/w her poop and butt
(sorry if you already know this)
Thanks! We've been slathering on the Butt Paste but I haven't been using Aquaphor. Can you use both at the same time?
Thanks for the tip!
RR - Yes, for really bad rashes I put diaper paste on first to treat, and then coat with Aquaphor to provide a barrier against moisture / more icky poop. Cute Newseum photo!
