I would have done the same thing! I'm a Midwesterner and have never felt and earthquake so I'd be all sorts of paranoid.
Not overreacting at all; I'm from Southern California, but live in Nebraska now, and growing up we never had anything hanging over our beds or couches or anything, and everything was tacked down or bolted to the wall; if we were to have an earthquake here, it could be dangerous! We have tons of stuff not safely secured. Might have to move some stuff around now...
Yeah, we felt it on the other side of the state too. NUTS!

We felt it here in NC!!
What a week you will have! Earth Quake today, Cat 3 hurricane tomorrow. Stay safe!
Felt it here in NYC. Well, not me specifically because I am sick and was still in bed with DD, haha.
They evacuated several buildings in Midtown and Lower Manhattan, including City Hall, for fear that it was terror related, people were really scared. Ugh, I feel so bad for them. Living here sucks sometimes.
I'm in VA, so I definitely felt it. Also, I now know that I'm scared of earthquakes.
I think I did the tornado safety thing by going to the bottom floor of my house. Oops!
I live in Wilmington, NC. I didn't feel it but my co-workers in another building did and people all over the city said they felt it. We get the hurricane too. Hooray!
Me too. I'm a Cali girl born and raised and when we set up LO's room I didn't want to put anything above his crib. When my sister and I were little a big earthquake hit in our city and I had pictures fall ontop of me. I really think I have PTSD from growing up in Earthquake country. Now that I live in AZ I worry every time I go back to visit there will be an earthquake. However.. still, even though we don't have quakes here (KNOCK ON WOOD) I don't put anything up on walls behind our beds or above couches.
LOL That's kind of funny. Glad everyone is OK!
