Ailments and Treatments Survey

Since we have all been moaning and groaning about the same aches and pains lately, I thought it might be a good idea to stick up a post we can all refer back to as needed for little quick fixes for all our baby troubles in these final weeks.  So post away ladies and share your knowledge and secrets about all your pregnancy road bumps and what makes them feel better.....

  • Itchy Feet: As soon as you get out of the shower, rub your feel down with some good thick lotion  (apparently they itch from all the extra estrogen in your body)

Itchy Belly:  A BTDT mommy friend of mine gave me a bottle of pure vitamin e oil to use to combat itch and keep everything smooth.  I use it at night and baste myself like a turkey.  No stretch marks here, nor do I itch all day.  Just wear an old shirt or walk around in a sports bra for a bit afterwards until you dry out a bit.

Crampy Wrist and Sore Fingers: If you are waking up with soreness in your hands, my dr. told me it's from sleeping on your side and putting extra pressure and weight on your wrist.  Try sleeping with a supportive wrist brace that you can buy in any drug store.  This has worked wonders for me!

  • Best treatment for the cankles. 2 ice packs, and 2 ace bandages. Put the ice packs on the swelling and wrap them with the ace bandage to hold them in place. Then elevate. Best part is you can walk to the fridge with the ice packs still in place ;-)

Thank you for posting this, I thought my feet were itchy just b/c I've been wearing flip flops more often.  I didn't know about the estrogen.  I use Gold Bond Medicated foot cream and put on a pair of fuzzy socks every night after my shower.  Sometimes I take a pedicure tool and scrape them, too (I'm at a loss of what the name of tha tool is called now).

Great idea; I've been waking up every night feeling nauseaus, and I'm not sure if it's due to what I ate for dinner (which these days, is not much at all) or if it's because my stomach is empty.  Going to try late night popsicle treats tonight...

I'm so there with you!  If it's nighttime, a tylenol PM, if it's morning a sudafed.  I've tried every other home remedy and the drugs are the only things that work for me.  Sometimes a hot shower helps, but it's too hot for that these days!

My allergies are usually worst in fall, but they definitely are bad during spring and summer. I wanted to avoid taking allergy meds, if possible. So I tried the old trick I've heard about local honey.

I take about a tablespoon each morning (you can take it on its own or mix in tea, etc.). I haven't had allergy problems at all, aside from the times I've forgotten to take the honey a few days in a row, once I start it back up, it goes away.
