  • Yeah, I read that when she first put it up. It gave me chills. I am so worried about going into "real" labor vs. pitocin-fueled. My biggest fear is that my body will make up for not working last time, and I will have a baby in a place other than the hospital.

    This.

A friend's friend delivered his wife's baby at home (half hour labor, i hear) before the midwife arrived.  The idea of labor is daunting enough, but doing it alone?  Yikes.

You could always do a home birth! The midwives I used for O and E will come to your house!

  •  Holy crap!  That is crazy.

I've definitely wondered about this too, since my body didn't get to do it on it's own.  I'm more curious than worried though.

I am worried because my pit-contrax were so horrendous that I don't think I will know what "real" contractions feel like. I am afraid of waiting too long. But I would imagine that my OB would give me good guidelines and little leeway during a VBAC.

Trust me, you will still know!! I guess I am the crazy one that doesn't think this is that bad of an outcome! At least the doula was there! Not ideal by any stretch, but I might choose this over 2 hours of pushing like last time! Now on the side of I-5? That's a different story...

Well, what I thought were Braxton Hicks must have been doing more than I thought! But I agree, once they really kicked it into gear there was no doubt what was happening. But as scary as it was, and as much as I did not want to give birth in the ambulance, I'd take Anna's labor over Max's any day of the week! Two pushes vs pushing for an hour and a half? Yes, please!

  • Oh and it's probably not much reassurance, but my midwife said when babies come really fast like that, they are just ready and almost always everything is fine.

  • Am I the only one who thinks that it was irresponsible to stay home and labor so long just because she didnt want to be hooked up to a monitor? Wouldnt they consider her higer risk for a reason?

I thought that too.  If she was high risk, why was she waiting it out?  I'm glad everything was ok in the end.
