Success after IF

worse than muffins...

... would be the (no more than) 2 year old in Starbucks yesterday, with her very own VENTI (largest one) caramel frappuccino with whip and caramel sauce.  It was almost as tall as she was, and it was her breakfast.  I heard the mom talking about it.  She regularly gets these.

She also had those feather extension things (a la Steven Tyler) in her fine, 2 year old baby hair.

Go ahead and judge the hell outta that one, because I sure did!

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • Dillon had a sip of coffee today because he always bugs me for it. I was hoping he would try it not like it and that would be the end of that but he said mmmm instead Crying rhut rho!

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!

  • Whoa.  Ok, I might have to DD my judging post, because I'm not sure I can help it, lol.

At the bakery by our old house (our very favorite place), I would get iced chai lattes.  They were caffeine free, and Ava LOVED them.  I she would always steal mine for a sip (or two...or ten...) and it looked like she was drinking iced coffee!

My girls have taken a sip here and there of my iced caramel macchiattos and LOVE it.  Ugh.  They beg for more and get so upset when I say no, but come on...  ;)

And yes, I will admit that Lily's first word was Starbucks (buck).  I may have a slight addiction.  LOL!  They even recognize the logo when in Target and say Buck Peeese. They like the Horizon vanilla milk boxes, which the sometimes get as a treat there.  Embarrassed

    But a Venti frap?!  Whoa.

I hear ya, E.  Like I said, I try not to judge.  But this little girl wasn't low in the percentile in weight, and her mom said she regularly gets them.  I just think it's sad.  Those ventis are HUGE.  And it was her very own.  Her mom said she can finish a venti in 10 minutes.  :(

That + the feather thing just slayed me.

  • The whole feather thing is scaring me as they were quite fashionable back in the early 80's when I was in 6th grade. I think I feel hot pink lace leggings making a comeback shortly too. Surprise

  • My husband ties his own flies for fly fishing, and honest to god, the materials have gone up in price due to this trend.  Plus, I always see the raw materials as hunks of dried, unplucked poultry skin (which is how they are packaged) so it's not something I'd ever think to put in my hair :)  Then again I am the LEAST stylish person in history, so what do I know :)

  • My husband's company just sent out a memo reminding everyone that feathers in the hair were not acceptable business casual attire.  Made me LOL.  So girlfriend better get those taken out before she enters the workforce!

  • What is with this feather thing, and how long has it been around? I used to consider myself pretty knowledgeable of fashion trends (if not participatory) but this one blindsided me. I saw an infomercial for feathers in the middle of the night while nursing recently and assumed it was some weird infomercial thing, then a week later my 16 year old sister visited and had a feather in her hair (which I mocked, but I trust her to know trends better than myself).

I'm old. And I'm not putting a feather in my hair. But a venti sounds good right now, LOL.

I think it has been all summer.  My cousin (15, I think?) had one and I thought it was fug.  But according to her, "it is like, the coolest thing."

I saw some teenagers (listen to me, I sound OLD) wearing some this summer and did a double take.  Another thing that's big is hair wraps....where they wrap the friendship bracelet rope (not sure what it's called) around your hair....I saw kids from 7+ years wearing them.  Apparently it's a big fashion statement in that crowd.

  • I wouldn't want to deal with the buzz the kid has after that. Reese will get a sip of my iced coffee, etc from time to time. Between the sugar and the caffiene, you would've thought I gave her crack or something!

I read somewhere that Steven Tyler started the trend, b/c he wore them while judging American Idol last season.

Childhood cancer (DH) + chemo + radiation = 0 sperm.
    LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
    LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).

ha!  Jones had two tiny bites off a brownie sample in a store the other day and he was WIRED!!  lol!
  • my cousin's 8 year old had a feather in her hair and crackle nails when she came to visit me. i told her she was way more fashionable than me!

it's the kind of thing that looks awesome on steven tyler but not 90% of the other people who wear them.

i can't even imagine the sugar/caffeine rush that kid has, i would never want to deal with that.
