Hi Everyone,
I'm due in November and my husband is dead set on Dean for a first name but wants a Hawaiian middle name to honor his mother's heritage. Haven't found anything good yet, any suggestions? If we were having a girl, we would be set on a name but for some reason its hard to name our boy!
Re: Hawaiian Boy Name
I know a Kainoa.

I agree, Kai is my suggestion too. Dean Kai has a nice ring to it.
I like Kai too.
I think Liko is kind of cute too.
I live in Hawaii and here are some names that you might consider. Warning: I do not know what they mean, but they are boy names I have heard.
Kainoa
Kainalu
Keola
Kawika
Ikaika
Pomaikai
Kaimani
Ehukai (also a beach)
Helemanu (Helemano)

We are looking for the same thing because our little one was conceived in Hawaii. I have a couple Hawaiian girls names that I love and would use for a middle name, but not a lot of boys ones.
I am of Canadian Aboriginal decent and traditionally we have an elder family member or someone in the community name our children. I know a lot of people with a "legal" name and then a "Native" name. My husband and I are thinking of asking a Hawaiian elder we know to give our baby a name that we will use as a middle name.
Maybe your husband could ask his family for a name? Or you could wait until the baby is born and give it an Hawaiian name that suits the day it is born or the child itself?
Toufa, Sydney, Mikela, Sefa. These are my male cousin's names.
