Which Maclaren/umbrella stroller? (already have UBV stroller)

We have the Uppababy Vista already.  We'll probably be taking some trips so I was thinking a lightweight travel stroller would be nice. My good friend rec'd a Maclaren.  If you have one, which do you recommend?  Would love to hear rants or raves.

 Thanks!

  • We have a GRACO IPO. We really like it, now that DS is bigger we have been using it a bit more often. We like that it has a pretty good recline for naps, a sun shade and a decent size basket. The handle height is comfortable for both me at 5'2" and DH at just under 6'. It folds and open easily and is small and not too heavey. They often go on sale for under $100.

We don't like that there is no cupholder.

  • Not sure what your budget is, but recommended lightweights are the UPPAbaby G-Luxe and most Maclarens.

I have a Maclaren 4 Seasons I bought off of eBay and it's awesome.  I would just stay away from the Maclaren Volo as it's only suitable for an older baby given that it doesn't recline and has a hammock-type seat.

    Cybex umbrellas are also recommended.

  • I have a maclaren quest and love it.

  • We have the UB G-Luxe and really like it.  It has a big sun shade like the UBV.
  • Mac's are the best! Since you already have the UBV serving as your full size stroller, I would get a Triumph or Quest. The Triumph has a slight recline, and the Quest a little bit more of an incline (although not a full incline). I guess it depends on how early you think you will be using it. I personally would get the Quest, as it has more of an incline, and younger babies could nap more comfortably in it.

  • Either a Maclaren Quest or the UB G-Luxe --- I like the sun shade and the kick stand on the UB but the fold on the Maclaren is slightly better. Not sure which I will choose.
  • I've had an Uppababy G-Luxe for 2 years now and it's been great.  I love that it is so light!
  • We have the Vista and A Cybex and I love it. It reclines more than a Maclaren which is why we got it. It is also taller (we are both tall so that helps!). I have a friend who has the Glux and LOVES it.

Ditto! We are on our 3rd child & the Quest looks & works the same way it did when we purchased it almost 6 years ago. I love the recline, the moveable sun canopy, rain cover (it's included), and decent sized basket. In typical European style, it doesn't have a cup holder, but you could always attach one. I got mine for a steal on AlbeeBaby.com.
  • Thanks for the recs everyone!!

  • Have you watched the Baby Gizmo videos on youtube?  They were really helpful to me in weeding out lightweight strollers.
  • We have the Baby Jogger City Mini for our umbrella/travel stroller and LOVE it for those functions.  The easy open/close and large sunshade are a must since we travel quite a bit.  It's a fairly lightweight stroller and we like that we didn't have to give up the nicer amenities that a lot of the umbrella strollers do not have.

BTW, we also have the UPV and it ROCKS!

I have the Maclaren Triumph and WISH I got this stroller instead.  A few reasons...Maclaren has small/hard to access under basket, does not recline enough for DD to take a nap comfortably (though other Maclarens like Techno or Quest have deeper recline), AWFUL sunshade (you will need to purchase a "Rayshade" for adequate coverage).  I bought it when I was pg with DD because it was pink & cute...HATE it now.  I've recently tested out the UB umbrella and am in love, just wish it came in a double option.  Also seems like the UB has a cushier seat, which would be more comfy.  If you choose the Maclaren, just DON'T get the Triumph!
