Too many early u/s?

So I had an u/s at 5 weeks, 7 weeks and probably tomorrow at 8.5 weeks. They are wanting to monitor my cyst. After the 8 week one I don't think I will get one until 18 weeks. I am totally game on seeing the baby but if it is going to cause any harm, I don't want it. What do you think?

I felt that way at first - I had one at 6w4d to confirm pregnancy was in the uterus. Then off to the OB (their office does one at every visit) at 7w3d.

After that it was 9w, 12w1d (NT scan) and several more due to spotting and cramping.

There is no research to show harm, but obviously it's a difficult thing to reasearch. In the end, it was worth piece of mind to know baby was ok, there was no blood clot, etc.

In your case, it sounds like it's worth it. I also had a cyst (small, 2.5 cm I think) and f/u showed it was shrinking. Good luck!

there is no research to prove harm and i'm with PP that the piece of mind was what I needed for sure. i had one at 5w3d, 6w3d, 8w (due to bleeding), 10w(with OB #1) and 12 weeks with OB #2.

i've easily had 10 u/s, if not more, during my pregnancy.

they wouldn't do them if they caused any harm

My feeling is that after the hell of IF, it is a little "treat" to get to see your little baby so much.

P.S...You might also have an u/s at 12/13 weeks if you choose to have the NT Scan. DH and I loved seeing our little one for 30+ mins.

I'm just about as far along as you, and I'm also having my 3rd ultrasound tomorrow at my first OB appt (yay!). I had one at the RE's office at 5w6d and 6w6d too. During my last one, the RE specifically told me it doesn't do any harm to the baby.

I'm also one of those obsessive types who feels reassured seeing that a LO is still growing in there!

I had one at 5w, 6w, 7w, 8w, 9w, 10w, 11w, 12w, 13w for NT scan, 16w, 20w, 24w, 29w, and 33w. I'm having another one at 37w. There's no research that said ultrasound cause harm, and with testing positive for Sjogren Syndrome and marginal attachment of umbilical cord to the placenta I feel better getting the ultrasounds to make sure that the baby is growing as it should be.

I've had an u/s every week from week 4 through week 22 and then it went to every 2 weeks after that. Same as others posted, there isnt anything to prove harmful and I'm sure the specialists wouldnt perform so many if they felt they were harmful. If I didn't have all those u/s I probably would have driven myself crazy wondering if everything was ok.

I had one at 5.4, 6.5, 7.1, 7.5, 8.4 and I have one scheduled for 9.4 weeks. I will more than likely have one or two more with my RE and then I'm scheduling my NT scan which I assume will be in week 12.

If they are harmful, my baby is screwed, because we had to have them every week at one point due to autoimmune antibodies, and now every two weeks for the same issue until 34 weeks. Plus growth ultrasounds because of low PAPP-A. I think they are fine, a lot of high risk people have on a frequent basis.

I'm having my 5th ultrasound tomorrow morning at 9 weeks and 4 days. No evidence has been proven that ultrasounds cause any harm to the baby so if the doctor wants to keep doing them I consider it a blessing!
