We had a good routine going for a couple of weeks. DS (who will be 3 months on Saturday) was sleeping 10-5ish and my DH and I were taking turns. I was getting a full night's sleep every other night, and 6 hours or so the other. Heaven!
For the past 4 or 5 days, DS has slept through the evening (6-10) then gone to bed. He's started waking up at 2 or 3 am, and then around 5 am. He then goes back to sleep until we have to take him to my MIL's for the work day.
Should we let him sleep through the evening or try to engage him somehow so he'll sleep longer through the night again? He doesn't seem overtired or extra fussy.
I'm getting more done in the evening after work, but I'm really missing my time with him. By the time I get home from work, he's only awake for an hour or so. I want to do what is best for him, whether I get my snuggle time with him or not.
Re: Sleeping through the evening...
I don't have a good answer for you because I'm in a similar situation. My LO naps in the evening until 8ish sometimes, then we do our bedtime routine and he's down at 9:30ish but he has only sttn once. So I wondwe if we should cut down the naps and put to bed earlier or keep awake until bedtime.
My Blog: Naturally Mindful
We keep our little guy up (he usually gets up from his nap around 3:30) and we keep him awake until 7:30 or 8 for bed. Since we have been doing that, 9x out of 10 he is sleeping until 5 am without waking up once (This has been going on for about a week now).
It's hard to keep him awake without him getting cranky, so I cluster feed him when I get home from work and we take him walking outside, which helps stimulate him. Also, he loves bathtime, so even if we don't wash him, he still gets in the tub every night to play, which helps prolong sleep. Then we read him some books, I feed him again and he's down for the count. Although I don't get much done in the evening when I get home from work, because hubby and I are tag-teaming to try to keep him awake and happy, it's worth the potential for 8 hours of sleep to me
