I haven't been very active on here, mostly lurk, but some of you may remember me from posts about sleep issues or my SIL wanting me to go to her bridal shower all the way up in New Hampshire.
Anyway, finally, at 17 months pp I finally got my period. My daughter still nurses a lot, several times overnight, and I think that was the issue. I expected it to take a while for things to regulate and but apparently not! I just got a BFP last Friday
.
We only DTD once that month too (a kid that doesn't sleep kinda does that!), so it really seems meant to be.
I'm concerned about nursing while pregnant, especially since DD still nurses so often, but KellyMom made me feel better about that. I'm also concerned about DD's horrible sleeping -- I'm tired already and feel like we really need to get things to improve. She was up 4-5 times last night with less than an hour between wakings at one point and is refusing to sleep for MH.
Anway, if anyone has experience nursing while pregnant, I'd love to hear from you. I want to make sure that all 3 of us are getting enough. I'm at a loss with the sleep issues, but I'm feeling like we tried everything and that there may have to be some tears involved.
Re: Surprise BFP
Congratulations on your BFP!
My DD is a little bit older than yours, but she is still nursing and doesn't show any signs of that being impacted by the pregnancy yet. Of course, she is definitely just comfort nursing now so I don't know if she would care much if the milk supply was down. I've asked her if there is still milk and she says there is, so I take her word for it.
The sleep thing is still a struggle for us. DD has never been a good sleeper, and although it is gradually getting better as she gets older, it is still rough. I won't lie, pregnancy makes the sleep thing a lot harder to take. DD has nights now where she STTN (she did last night), but it is extremely rare. Prior to last night, she had been up 5+ times every night for over a week. In all fairness, she had a bad cold, but it is always something with her. It's a struggle, and DH has been good about (finally) stepping up more at night because I just physically can't do it all right now. I think in the long run that will be good for everyone, because DD will need to get used to having more one-on-one Daddy time anyway.
Just listen to your body and know when you need to take a break. Definitely make sure you are eating and drinking enough, and take care of yourself. We are just taking it one day at a time, and so far it's going pretty well. Congrats again, and good luck!
Congrats on the BFP!
We are still nursing, but like pp, I don't think DS is getting as much. I still do hear him swallowing, but it's not for long. He's also been a lot rougher w/ nursing these last few weeks, so I think he's having to work harder at gettting the milk. It has created some nipple pain, but I've started using lanolin again and that has helped. I also had some tenderness at first, but it was temporary and only lasted a few weeks.
We also have sleep issues
, and I've found I get frustrated more easily... the tears are mine! It's an adventure for sure!
Congrats! I'm nursing while (barely) pregnant right now & feel slightly nervous about it. My LO is still eating atleast 1x nightly, sometimes up to 4x, so I feel you on the sleep issues.
I hope your LO's sleep improves! Mine is still pretty young, so I can count on a nap or 2 during the day. For some reason though I just can't sleep with him in bed anymore, & he can't sleep out of it. I said I'd let him night wean first, then try whatever I can to get him into either his crib, or a PNP in our room & then the crib.
