I don't plan to take lamaze or any form of a birthing class...I've heard from a few people that they thought it was a waste of time. Just curious what other ladies on this board are doing?

I had planned on not taking them too because of what I've heard (mixed reviews) but I decided to enroll anyway. Tomorrow is my last class (it was a series of 3 classes) and I'm glad I did, even more so for DH because its given him a lot of info on what to expect, his role in the process, etc. I also think seeing what I will go through has given him a new appreciation of what I'm going through now and will go through soon! Its also helped me out with knowing what to expect. I know they will walk me through it as its happening but I feel better prepared. Also depending on the type of labor I will be in, there may not be time to explain every little step.
I'm not saying if you snooze you lose, but I'm glad we decided to take it.
I'm doing a combo package that includes care of babies (with infant CPR), childbirth and breastfeeding. I expect to be bored at times and to get contacts for LL, etc and tips from the nurses earlier so I can prepare rather than on a rush at the hospital. My husband is coming so we get to have common grounds and he can catch up.
We are taking a prepared childbirth class this upcoming Saturday. It is supposed to cover relaxation and breathing techniques, preparation for labor and delivery,
postpartum care, and infant care. A tour of the OB and mother/baby unit
is included.
I think it will be good for me, but really important for DH since he has no idea what is in store for us. I've also never been to this hospital/L&D so I have no idea where to go or what everything looks like, so I'm looking forward to the tour so I can have an idea in my head of where this will all be going down.
We're also taking a breastfeeding class and an infant CPR & child safety class.

We took the prepared childbirth, breastfeeding, Infant CPR, and baby care basic divided into 2 x 3 hours private class and I think they were helpful for us. DH and I has never been around babies so we are both pretty clueless.
The prepared childbirth gave us a lot of info on what to expect and all the options that are available during labor so I'm glad we took it.

We're actually taking a Bradley class, so its 12 weeks long (a bit of the extreme) plus "homework" every week. I like it b/c I'm interested in natural childbirth and its a really good preparation for me and DH. Plus, its held in our neighborhood, so its given us a chance to meet other neighbors who are due at the same time.

We aren't taking one. I've heard mixed reviews about the class at our hosptial and maybe I'm lazy, but I dont want to sit through a class for it to be a waste of time. We did take a breastfeeding class and that was very interesting.
We took the childbirth class sponsored by our hospital and I'm glad that we did. DH and I learned a ton. We especially appreciated the relaxation aspect. I'm a very anxious person and the deep breathing stuff is really helping. And I'm glad that my husband now knows what to expect. I feel like he will be a good coach and advocate for me in the delivery room since I tend to panic.
We are signed up for breastfeeding and a special class for people with dogs. I wasn't planning on taking the childcare class but I figure it will help DH feel better about caring tor the baby and not just relying on our moms telling us what to do.
Beautiful Miracle Baby lost at 21 weeks due to pre-term labor and incompetent cervix. FET#1 BFN, FET#2 BFP, early loss. FET#3 BFN. IVF#2 BFFN. FET #4 BFP after removing bilateral hydrosalpinx and 3 months of lupron depot. Sticky Bun is here!!
With DS, DH and I did the multi-week childbirth class which was a waste of time, except that I am now facebook friends with a few women from the group. We also did a breastfeeding class was super helpful.

We are taking the labor and delivery class which is 4, 2 hour sessions. We're also taking infant CPR and a baby basics class. I signed up because I thought it would be fun for DH and I to do together, get a little information and to be somewhat prepared for labor. I know we might be bored at times but I'm excited for the classes.

We don't have a class offered here (in English at least!). I wanted to do it more for DH than me, since. Have seen laboring/birth in nursing school.
I would love to take a Bradley class, but we dont have that either. So it's all books for us.

We're doing the childbirth/infant care and breastfeeding class offered by our hospital. W/ my insurance it was only $20.00. I'm embarrassed to admit I'm 33 years old and have never changed a diaper in my life! Also DH has zero interest in reading any kind of pregnancy/childbirth books so I thought it would be a good idea for him to go.

We didn't take any classes. And now that I've had him I have to say I don't think they would have been useful. While your in labor they tell you what to do. I def have an epi so that made things easier. I could maybe see taking a class if you are wanting to go pain free.
I am also EBF and it isn't difficult for me. I know not everyone's experience is the same but we picked it up easily. The one class that I do want to take is a refresher in infant CPR. When he starts choking and coughing it scares the poop out of me. I am certified in CPR but I should've taken another class.
We aren't doing one either. I didn't care either way, and with a due date of January 14 - the classes we would have to go to are in the middle of the holidays so we said no. We could just go to a class way earlier, but I just don't have the energy to sit through something that I don't feel like I HAVE to go to. I have 3 sisters who will give me all the advice I need and none of them felt like their class benefitted them at all - but to each their own.

Re: Birthing class...yay or nay?
i have heard the same, so i'm not taking any either.
