Our entire office shook for about 10 seconds. I was talking to my best friend who works 45 minutes away while it happened and she felt it too. Weird.

That is one hell of a fault line.
And it woke my kid who had been asleep for 10 minutes and now he's giggling in his crib. This is going to be a long afternoon

That is so weird you say that! I'm in SC, and my desk felt like it was moving. When I looked up the blinds on our windows were shaking!

We had one a couple hours south of here last night, that supposedly people could feel pretty close to where I live (I don't know, I was passed the eff out LOL).
Clearly this can only mean one thing...

We just had one here in NJ too, they're talking about it on the radio. Said it was a small one. Sounds like it was more the lower middle and bottom portion of the state. I didn't feel anything, but then again I wasn't paying too much attention as I was with a patient.
Then, yep, I felt it here in GA.
No wonder I feel like I'm about to have a panic attack. I'm in richmond
LOL. In my 40 years of living here in "earthquake country" (and yes, I actually took a college class called that), I've only had a single picture frame fall off a mantle. I've been right on top of a 4.0 epicenter and that scared the bajeebus out of me - talk about feeling like your house got picked up and dropped back down.
I don't get how people live with tornados. Those look soooooo scary and destructive to me.

communication is always a disaster after a quake because EVERYONE has someone they need to call.
Growing up we had an out of state # to call to check in: my Grandma. Apparently it was easier to call out of state. Not sure if that holds true in the world of cell phones vs. corded phones.

Yep, both of my companies locations in mid/mid-west MI could feel it. We could see coffee in glasses and blinds moving too.
My husband is from Ventura County California and lost his apartment building in the (1994?) big earthquake there. And he says the same thing - earthquakes are no biggie, they happen all the time, but he freaks out at every tornado watch we have here in the Midwest.

I'm the same as your hubs. Earthquakes - meh. The idea of a Tornado or even a Hurricane scares the bejebus out of me. It's not that I look forward to earthquakes, they just don't phase me. They're over so quickly you can get on with the clean up right away.
--I didn't know your hubs is from Cali. I used to live about 3 blocks from the apt building that collapsed in Northridge in the 94 quake (though we didn't move to socal until 2002.)
Nursed without dairy, egg, soy, peanut, treenut, fish, shellfish or beef for over a year.
Currently tandem nursing dairy, egg, and shellfish free.
DS born via emergency c/s after 20 hrs of labor. DD successful VBAC!
