hormones

How do you handle hormones? Mine have been out of control for the past two days.I spent the weekend with my sold and mil, who I really like. But I came home and cried for 45 minutes about something that a) I shouldn't be upset about and b)is something I can't control anyway.Yesterday, I flew off the handle at work for, again, something stupid. This morning, I feel on edge, because of a conversation with my silver about something that happened 3 months ago and, again, can't change.I hate feeling so wound up and on the edge of tears. How do I control this?

Re: hormones

  • FYI I'm on my Droid, so silver and sold actually means sister in law!

  • I get that way too, both when I'm pregnant and when I'm not. Sometimes you have to let it out, but when I can't I try to remove myself from whatever is bothering me for a few minutes and breathe. Even if that means just going to the bathroom. Yoga is also great to help you feel more centered.

  • I think about that scene from "Knocked Up" where Seth Rogen says to Katherine Heigl: "F*ck you, HORMONES. You're a crazy b!tch, HORMONES. Not Alison. HORMONES" and it makes me laugh. That probably wasn't helpful, but I completely sympathize with what you're going through.

  • I don't so much "handle" the craziness, but I do try to let the people I'm likely to snap at know what's up.  Usually this is my husband.  I just tell him "I'm feeling a little hormonally crazy today, just so you know."  That way he saves his own craziness for later, or just knows when I snap at him that I don't really mean it.  :)
