We had a Mike's Fun Day last month and went to the park, to see Cars2 and picked out all his school supplies. We have another one schedule for next week. He gets to pick what we do, but I'm looking for any ideas that would be more appealing than Chuck-E-Cheese. (I really don't want to go there.) So far I've got:
I'll be dropping Alex off at daycare and picking him up again, so I can't go too far away. Any other ideas?

Re: Ideas for a fun day for a 6 year old
As a kid I always loved going to Akron Falls Park. There is also a little airport near that that we used to go to and watch small airplanes take off from.
Or if it's really nice out you could spend some time at the beach and playgrounds at Beaver Island State Park.
Another place I'd like to take L at some point when we're out there is Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park.
Darien Lake or fantasy island ? Kinda expensive.. but I bet he'd love it. We did the Olcott Beach Carousel Park on thursday and it was a lot of fun, but I think for a 6 year old, he'd probably get bored with them quickly.. Its super cheap though.
Or I like the idea of just going to a park you have not been to before and exploring.
I know you said not too far.. but i bet you would have time for a Rochester trip if you wanted to do the strong museum or the zoo there.

Unless you're lumping in a trip to see the Falls too, I would say that the Aquarium isn't much fun for a 6 year old. It would take all of 30 minutes to get through. We have a membership and it seems the right size for Claire but we never stay longer than 45 minutes.
Buffalo Science Museum? I second the Naval Park idea too.
What about Penn Dixie to find fossils? It's in Hamburg and many of the fossils are laying on the ground. Pretty easy finding for a 6 year old.
