Diaper Rash

our baby's had a diaper rash for a few weeks now.  in the past when his buns turned a little red, the prescription rash cream took care of it within a day.  but this time, we've been slathering on the cream and it's still red.  actually it's progressed to tiny red bumps.  i'm wondering if it's the Luv's diapers.  unfortunately, i can't remember exactly when we started using it. but a few days ago we switched to 7th generation and the rash is getting better.  we still have some luv's left, but i don't know if we should switch back to finish using them.

anyone else experience worse diaper rash with luv's or is it just our imagination?

Re: Diaper Rash

  • I don't use Luvs but when Nicholas diaper rash flares I was told by the pedi to just use straight petroleum jelly because you have to wipe so much harder to get the zinc off it makes the diaper rash worse.

  • Sophie had this.  Air him out - put him on some Chucks pads without pants/diapers on for a few hours.  She got a yeast infection after the diaper rash went away, and we mixed a little bit of Lanosin cream in with her diaper cream and that disappeared in a couple days.  The yeast infection looked like little eczema bumps at first, then looked kind of like blisters a couple days later.

  • this is late, but julie just had this.  it was a yeast-y infection.  the NP told us if you see those satellite lesions - the little dots - it is the indicator that this is not standard diaper rash.  she said something like lotimin is good, but gave us a prescription and coupon for vusion.  it's expensive but if your dr has a coupon it's worth it.  went away immediately!
  • I love Aquaphor for all skin irritations on DD, esp diaper rash and the CVS generic brand works just as well.

I also love Triple Paste found at Target in the baby section. It cleared DD BAD rash up in 3 applications!
