And i don't mean those parenting books! I know we are all constantly reading those! I am currently reading The Truth About Diamonds, by Nicole Ritchie. Don't ask! I saw it at the library in the "no need to check out, just bring back" section and now i know why it was there. Its not terrible, actually funny in some parts, but its what you can expect from the said author. A little light reading is good for the soul! What do you recommend?

Re: NBR: What are you reading, ladies?
I just finished Naked Summer by my buddy Andrew Scott. We're both from Indiana and around the same age (and would have the same fiction publisher if I could finish my book :-)
It's really, really good. I'm proud to be his friend and have the same publisher.
Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/Naked-Summer-Andrew-Scott/dp/1935708317/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1314037404&sr=8-1
Next up is The Help since you all mentioned it, and I read that the author's manuscript was rejected 60 times before it got published. I figure that should give me a kick in the pants to finish the two books my publishers are waiting on.
Mac and cheese lover!
This bolded part about killed me. There are so many great writers out there most people will never hear of, and many of them spend YEARS on each book they write just so they "won't" be literary junk food. I tell my students this statistic, "Every 13 minutes, someone buys a book by Nora Roberts" and then I add, "And every 14 minutes, an angel dies."
Mac and cheese lover!
Mostly recently I read "The Help" and "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society." Liked the first book, LOVED the second!
Next on my list - "The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake" b/c that's the book for a girls book retreat/weekend that I'm going on in September. I can't wait for that weekend!
I just finished "The Glass Castle" and "Half Broke Horses" by Jeantta Walls (I believe), they were both good, light reads.

I just finished reading The Help and I loooved it! Next up is a book by Cecelia Ahern (I can't decide which one to go with). Before that I read Jen Lancaster's newest and Jodi Piccoult's newest.
Just finished "something borrowed" (so much better than the movie!) and I'm on to "something blue"
very fast reads.. nothing too serious!
Currently waiting for the third book in the trilogy by Jennifer Donnelly. I'm addicted!
The Tea Rose
The Winter Rose and
The Wild Rose
I am embarrassed to admit that I am reading Pride and Prejudice for the FIRST time. ::Hangs head in shame::
I am also reading Janet Evanovich's Sizzlin' Sixteen.
How's that for literary diversity? lmao
One of my favorite first sentences in all of literature :-)
?It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.?
Mac and cheese lover!
I agree that it is a fantastic first sentence. I'm hooked.
I can't believe I've never picked it up before. My principal and librarian asked me if I would read it with my honors students, assuming I'd read it before.
I'm keeping a few chapters ahead of them. You'll appreciate this. Remember I teach 8th graders. We read the first 3 chapters on Friday. This morning I asked if someone in the class could re-cap what we read on Friday, and one boy volunteered, "Some rich guy moved to town and all of the girls are trying to get with him." lol
I just finished Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See this morning while I was feeding LO. Wonderful book, though not cheerful.
I'll be reading The Help next. I keep hearing about it from all sides. I hope it stands up to the hype.
If he just used bigger words, he could get an entire PhD specializing in Jane Austen and working on that premise :-)
Mac and cheese lover!
I'm currently reading Peony In Love by Lisa See, Rumspringa - To Be Or Not To Be Amish by Tom Shachtman (NF) and Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi (Paranormal YA).
Waiting for me at the library is The Name of the Wind, 1-2-3 Magic!, Total Money Makeover, Succubus Blues, The Year of Living Biblically, and The Duke and I.
So, yeah, um, I have a bit of a hodge-podge of stuff I'm reading right now! LOL!
I'll tell him! lol
I'm impressed that all of you ladies are reading so much! I'm "reading" A Game of Thrones, and by reading I mean that I listen to it at night while I'm nursing. This has been going on for about two months now, and I'm almost done with it. I work with a bunch of people who loved it. I'm enjoying it, but I'm not in love with it.
I also second The Imortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. I read it while I was pregnant at the suggestion of my OB. I'm a patent lawyer who does biotech work, so the subject matter was especially interesting ot me, but I've recommended it to others. It's a very interesting read.
