Re: low muscle tone and potty training

  • We're not there yet, but I have heard that it is harder for low tone LOs.

  • DD#1 is 2 1/2 and is just now trying to PT.  She actually refused to sit in potty chairs and has sit on the adult potty with an insert because she can't get up from the potty seat easily.  She has generalized hypotonia that is worse in her legs (she has ankle braces).  I've heard that it can take hypotonic kids can be slower because they were delayed with other gross motor skills.  I figure as long as she's not going to college in diapers, I'm doing good :)
  • My little guy has low tone.  For him, he has low tone in his hands as well so it's hard for him to pull his pants up and down.  He has no problem peeing on the potty but won't poop on the potty yet (he is 3).
