My steam mop blew!

I have the Shark, and something is wrong with it. It sounded funny, sort of spitty.....then the end blew off. It scared the crap out of me when it flew off and steam blew all over.

It looks weird inside, like it was plugged with paper. I got some off and tried the triangle one instead and it worked fine, so something built up inside. So weird!

I think I need an old fashioned mop....had it with these gizmos!

    That's crazy! Mine just stopped working a month ago. Was working fine, then just stopped making steam. I ended up buying a Haan because I had heard such good things about it. Still undecided whether I like it or not.

    My mom had gotten us a vac then steam and I wished that I liked it. Our kitchen floor is very light and it ended up super filmy/streaky. Glad you got yours going again, I would have probably screamed if it had exploded on me - so jumpy!

    I originally bought a shark, tried it for a week, didn't like it and returned it. It cleaned fine on our hardwoods, but on the linoleum, there are crevices, and it sucked.  I looked up a bunch online and ended up buying the envirosteamer and LOVE it.

    But, I do use the swiffer if I just need a quick good-enough job.  It doesn't look great, but gets the paw prints off so that first glance it looks clean.

    I hate the mop....hate dealing with the nasty dirty water afterwards.  I liked it ok when we used to live in the apartment that backed up to the woods, bc I would dump the water in the woods.  Now I have no where to dump it easily that doesn't gross me out.  The first few times I used the regular mop here at the house I ended up crouching under the deck and dumping the water there haha.

    I don't love the way the Shark cleans...I have been known to do a hands and knees wash with Mop N Glow to get a nice shiny clean. I don't think I fixed it for good....may have to call and ask what the heck happened.

    I hate the wet Swiffer. Sure it gets the paw prints up, but it leaves a sticky residue and smells weird.  

    Mops ARE gross! I just dump the water down the drain though.....is that bad?

    I had a Hoover hard floor cleaner, but now that leaks and it heavy/bulky.

    Maybe I need a housekeeper.....who comes nightly! lol

    I'm about to buy a Haan. I tried a Shark and didn't like it. I went with another brand at a home show and loved it but it broke a few weeks ago. Where did you get your Haan steam mop?

    Do you drain it after every use?  I've heard that residue from the water can build up if you don't. (Of course, I never do so maybe I'll end up with an explosion too!)

    Weird!  I'm ok with my Shark.  I feel like it cleans our floors but I had such high hopes that it would clean the tile grout which it doesn't, but IDK if any steam mop would.  I don't drain mine after using it either, maybe I'll remember one of these times (probably not).

    I have a Haan (DH ordered it from Amazon.)

    I buy distilled water and use that in it.  That way I don't have to worry about mineral build-up.  It did come with some cleaning packets to get rid of build-up.
