Public VS Private Cord Blood Banking...

Ok shoot me I'm a little confused & don't see my Dr for 2 more weeks.. Is public just donations? If I wanted to use my son's cord blood for anything in the future will I be able too if we do public or is that possible only through private? I know more about private than I do public..any info is appreciated..Thanks!

    From what I recall from my research is that Public banking is donation. That other families will have access to it if they look at that option. If you want it solely for your own use than that will be private. Typically Public (or donation) is a free service (although only offered at certian hospitals). If you choose the private route there will be the initial banking fee and then a yearly fee as well.

    public banking is donating. you would have no way to get it back for your own use. nor would you be given and priority of getting access to publicly donated cord blood.

    Public is donating, private is way overpriced. Personally, I'm just going to delay clamping so baby has a larger blood volume and a lesser chance of anemia.
